Dr. Stuart F. Asay, P.E.
The following are only a handful of the accomplishments of Dr. Asay, BPI's primary professor:

A registered Professional Engineer in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, Wyoming, Texas, Arizona, and Oklahoma.

Former regulator at the Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment, Water Quality Control Division.

He helped write and create the Department of Public Health and Environment Colorado Primary Drinking Water Regulations, Article 12: Hazardous Cross-Connections.

Dr. Asay has been teaching backflow prevention classes since 1984, and then officially founded the Backflow Prevention Institute in 1987.

He published/created the only internationally written, monthly industry publication, Drinking Water and Backflow Prevention magazine.

In 1984, Dr. Asay founded The American Backflow Prevention Association (ABPA) and the Colorado Backflow Prevention Association (CBPA). And now ABPA has chapters across America and also internationally, because of Dr. Asay.

He has founded the Rocky Mountain Chapter of the American Society of Sanitary Engineering (ASSE).

Dr. Asay is a voting member of the American Water Works Association (AWWA) Backflow Preventer standards committee.
